Of golden oldies, then how many of you remember where Lilly Marlene
once stood and under what she stood. It was once a big hit to many who
have since faded away. It was my Grandfather's favorite.
We tend to think of ourselves as modern; those older than us as old
fashioned; those younger than us as still wet behind the ears. My Mom
always said that there were two kinds of people, those who can
remember where they were when they heard about Pearl Harbor and those
who weren't even a gleam in their Daddy's eyes. I mark my time to John
Glenn orbiting the earth, the assassination of JFK and Neil Armstrong
walking on the Moon.
Young kids may use the Death of Princess Di as their time mark someday
and Elton John's remake of Candle in the Wind. And in a hundred years,
we will all be little more than a footnote in history.
