: Fellow Scouters,
: As seems to be customary with a new member of the group, something about
: I am a Montrealer, presently living in The Netherlands (since 1974), and
: married to Marian. We have a 3 1/2 year-old son Boaz - a gift from God in
: our late years: I was 56 and Marian 43 when he was born - a first child
: both of us.
: I began my carreer as a Wolf Cub in 1944, "going up" to become a Scout in
: 1949, a leader (ACM, ASM, SM, and ASR) in the '50's and ADC-Rover Scouts
: the '60's. I have Three Wood-Badges: Pack, Troop & Rover, and the first
: part of my Venturer - but left Montreal before I could do the practical.
: Special events were my participation as Assistant Camp Chief of Security
: during the Quebec Jamboree in the beginning of the '60's (can't remember
: the exact year), and my being made an Honourary member of the Order of
: Arrow - both degrees, and presented with a little silver arrow, which I
: still wear on my uniform on the rare occaisions that I wear one today.. I
: was even presented with an Eagle Scout Medal by the American Camp Chief,
: Commissioner from Philadelphia - a medal I still have and cherish.
: The second psecial event was my tour of duty as Assistant Chief of the
: Police at the Pentiction Jamboree, in British Columbia in 1966 - a
: memorable event mainly because of the fact that when one group was
: completely burnt out and lost literally everything - the whole camp got
: together and refurbished the boys witheverthing from safety-pins to pans,
: and clothing - a REAL Scouting experience.
: BTW - We had lots of Female Scouters in my day - true mostly Akela's and
: their Assistants it's true, but also a few ASM's - so I don't quite
: understand the problem today. OF course, a MALE GUIDE LEADER (as the
: were called in the British Commonwealth) would have been absolutely
: of and impossible.
: Your Brother in Scouting,
: Errol Feldman
: Ex-ADC Notre-Dame-de-Grace District
