I think you are sorely mistaking, part of the rank requirements is to Show
Scout Spirit. This as the book would define it includes a proper uniform. In
our troop (while we don't require full class A's at meeting) we do require
scouts to pass a uniform inspection 100/100 on the the uniform checklist to
pass the board of review. They also must have on a full class A to attend
their board of review.
Many questions have come in about cost for uniforming, most of the families
can afford 1 or 2 full uniforms, for the 2 or 3 families that can't afford
the uniform the troop will buy them 1 complete uniform of the of the dues
account. We ask that every family that can, buy a uniform for their son.
But, some of their money will go to help fellow scouts in need to buy
uniforms they can afford. We also run a successful 1 to 1 trade for
Having the correct uniform is important, being able to walk trough a scout
camp wearing the correct uniform and knowing it is the correct uniform, I
believe, gives scouts the feeling of being correct and succeeding at yet
another thing in scouting.
