Well, I don't know of any "requirement," but in my experience, you can
with reasonable comfort fit 1 boy for each 1.5 "persons" cited by the
manufacturer. For example, a "three-person" tent will really only
accommodate 2 Scouts with their gear. For backpacking, with gear stowed
outside (on a tree or in an auxilliary fly), you CAN fit 1-for-1, but
it's tight. OTOH, I'd recommend a 1-for-2 ration for SCOUTERS, even
those who have not yet experienced middle-age spread!
