My last "Handbook for Boys" was printed in 1940 and I am still content to
"Scouts IN RANKS - in uniform or not - all salute" (on command).
"Scouts NOT IN RANKS On All Scout Occasions - In Uniform - come to attention
and salute. Not in Uniform - come to attention, hold hat in right hand and
place over heart, or without a hat, hold the right hand over the heart."
It goes without saying that I also place the hand over the heart at all
football games for the presentation of the colors and National Anthem - even
though I might be the only one to do so.
