I'm glad to finally join you all on Scouts-L, after hearing about this
forum for over a year.
I am the Bear Den Leader and Cubmaster of Pack 163, chartered to St.
Anthony School in Charleston, W.Va. This is my sixth year as an adult in=
Scouting. My older son is now a Boy Scout, as are most of the boys in my=
first den. I was their leader from Wolf through Webelos. =
In addition to the work I do with my younger son and our Pack, I have a
deep commitment to Cub Scout Camping. I have completed my third year as
Program Director for Cub Scout Day Camp in our district -- Mountain Rifle=
and will be returning to camp school during November to be certified as D=
Camp Director. I have also been a staff member for Cub Resident Camp and=
was the Camp Director for one of five Cub Family Camps which ran
simultaneously at five different sites in the Buckskin Council last May.
My final area of dedication in scouting is training. I am our district
(Mt. Rifle) Cub Roundtable Commissioner, and in seven hours I will be par=
of the team (for the first time) at Cub Leader Training. Today, we are 3=
days from my Pow Wow (as chairman) -- *Catch the Spirit,* the 1997 Bucksk=
Council Pow Wow. Previously, I have taught classes and served as
co-chairman in 1996.
My two boys are Scouts, following in a family tradition. I have three
brothers who are Eagle Scouts and parents who were dedicated leaders in B=
