My Troop is located in southeastern PA (Cradle of Liberty Council) and is
planning a trip to the USS Massachusetts this June. Our CC wants to leave early
on a Saturday morning, drive the 6 or 7 hours to the Massachusetts, board the
vessel at noon, depart Sunday noon, spend some time visiting other ships
harbored there, then drive home Sunday evening. I would like to extend the trip
a bit to include Boston in this trip, have our Scouts walk the Freedom Trail,
see Old Ironsides, visit Bunker Hill, and possibly even Concord and Lexington.
However, our CC is convinced that a side trip to Boston would take too much time
and would detract from the visit to thee Massachusetts, etc., etc.
Can I get some information about camping sites between Fall River and Boston?
Perhaps if I can present the Committee with information about Scout Camps or
State Parks where we could camp, I might be able to persuade the Committee of
the value in including Boston in our plans.
Thanks for your help,
ASM Troop 296
