I use the following pledges to induct the youth leaders in my troop. I =
administer the pledge to the SPL and the SPL inducts each of the other =
positions. We do this by having the Scout give the Scout sign and hold =
the troop flag with his left hand. We induct all patrol leaders at the =
same time and then have the other members of the PLC staff inducted.
In addition, each Scout is given the following letter along with the =
responsibilities of each position prior to elections.
Boy Scout Troop 74, WSMR, NM
Monday, June 02, 1997
The last six months have flown by. During this time, your son may have =
held one of the junior leader positions. If he has, you may be assured =
he has helped the troop grow and has set a foundation for years to come. =
I thank you for your support helping him. =20
The troop is getting ready to hold junior leader elections on 9 June 97 =
for the next six months term. In doing so, I would like to request you =
talk to your son about this very important activity and look over the =
attached pages. After discussing the positions, I ask that both you and =
your son sign this letter and return it to the troop meeting on 9 June =
97. By signing this letter, I know that you and your son will =
understand the importance and responsibility of the junior leaders for =
Troop 74. I must have a signed copy of this letter before your son can =
be nominated for either Senior Patrol Leader, Assistance Senior Patrol =
Leader or Patrol Leader. If elected, he will undergo a day long =
training experience in the very near future.
I hope the following information will better help you understand how our =
troop programs work. If you have any questions concerning any of this =
information, please contact me at (H) xxx-xxxx.=20
Again, I look forward to working with your son and helping him on the =
trail through Boy Scouts, to Eagle.
