We charge $90 for the year at present, for members in 6, 7, and 8th
grades. High schoolers pay $20 per year. The logic is that the bulk of
the activities and advancement occurs with the younger boys. We prorated
the advancement costs to the 3 years, as well as equipment, and other
repeated expenses. The $20 covers registration, BL, and a little for
administration. Usually the highschoolers are not as active as the
younger boys. We explain that the cost of the badges to Eagle is
included in the first 3 years, so if they don't earn their Eagle, they
are not getting their money's worth! There is no extra charge if they
earn it in highschool since it is covered in the early years. The cost
mentioned is the cost of Merit Badges and Ranks. More than one in a
family still pay the same rate as our cost is based on a per boy basis.
It was not our choice that the family had many children! I am sure they
have to pay similar in sports and other activities.
