The recycling event that almost caused a divorce

I don't know why I blocked this one out of my head:
Returning from a weekend in Wisconsin we stopped for gas. Of course as soon
as we left the station and headed down the ramp to the expressway a young
voice announced he had to go to the bathroom, so we pulled to the side.
As I stood watching him and waiting to pull up his pants I looked around the
side of the road - which was covered in pieced of polished marble! I hustled
the kid back in the car and drove my wife nuts as I loaded more and more
chunks of what were obviously broken tabletops into the back of the car.
It took me a bit to figure out how to get it into usuable size pieces, and
then how to drill it without it cracking, but it has now provided trophy
after trophy for 7 years and I'm just getting to the last few pieces, each
about the size of a dinner plate.
We went back and tried to find that spot again weekend after wekend (which is
where the "can't you just forget it" discussion began) and couldn't figure
out where we had stopped. I used to give it away, now I'm getting stingy
because I can't get more.
Anybody know of a crash site?
