GLAD its not ME making your decision!!
My advice is do not accept
Stay as an active UC assisting the new SM, ASM's, and the committee.
Let this be an opportunity for your troop to grow adult =
depth. It will be hard personally because they will =
want you to cover them to make their lives easy. Continually
offer support even when they bring up gloom and doom. A SM
kind of leader should arise and then he/she will want and
expect your support. Stay focussed on your life priorities
and please include scouting.
My other learned Scouts-Lrs have given you other advice which =
is just as good as mine. My fear is the knowledge that SM can =
be an overburdening experience and an immense time consumer. =
You seem to need freedom from this focus so you can focus on
some other life reasons for existence beyond scouting.
