Red vests are easy to care for IF they are made from the correct
felt. Cubs in our pack usually make their vests as a Tiger or Wolf
project. We use 58"-60" heavyweight polyester felt, usually around
$7.00 per yard. It's machine washable. The fabric will pill less when
washed alone or hand washed. There's no need to worry about colors
bleeding with this fabric.
I don't have experience with the BSA patch vests so can't tell how
they hold up to wearing.
