"The Tree" is my website with information about Scouting and other topics
(like coffee). Here's what's been added as of this evening (21 August):
Joe is still having problems getting his disks to work, and the original
site has been moved over to about 85% of what was there before. I'll
continue to post both sites on my letterhead and on my resume and other
ways, but for the time period, the dynasty.net site is going to be my
I finally got copies of the content from Joe's site and have finished moving
them to the dynasty.net site below. So, the square knots, other insignia
and other content pages that was at Joe's old site is now at the present
dynasty.net site....it'll make it easier to see those square knots and other
insignia now! *eheheheehe*
I hope you like the new look and feel of The Tree. If you haven't been
through the entire site lately, take a little time and browse through the
entire site. You'll find some pleasant surprises and some nice photos. The
photos are nicer because now I have daily access to Jessica's scanner as
well as to other resources. With this new resource comes the ability to
post more recent and some older photos, documents and Geoworks items that I
couldn't do in Germany.
Speaking of Geoworks, I am taking part in a final beta testing of the
Geoworks/NewDeal Version 3, which is being called "New Deal Office". It
will allow email, ftp and faxing from any machine. So far, the testing is
going fine, with some problems.....hopefully the software will be available
in late October. By then, I will also have many of the BSA forms available
in this format for downloading and usage within NewDeal Office. It looks
great, and the forms come really close to the official BSA forms!
As far as insignia is concerned, I have re-arranged the insignia area so
that one click takes you to the present insignia collection and information.
I also have the majority of the Transatlantic Council's segments posted to
The Tree. Check them out and see if you have some things like this....I
would love to hear from you and to trade with you. Also, my
revised "CSP collection" page is updated and you can see which CSPs I'm
short on to complete my "One CSP from each and every local Council" collection!!
I am working on the position patches and will be posting them before the end
of this month. The position patches will be by National,
Regional/Area/Sectional, Council, District and unit. Unfortunately, only
the position patches after 1972 will be shown.
Recently, we've talked on Scouts-L about the youth religious emblems and the
Eagle Scout palms....there's two great pages set up now to show you
literally how to wear them on the field uniform. I'm working on the
training award pages, but it'll be some time before I get those ready for
Finally, after many Scouters wanted to see me in something OTHER than a
military uniform, on the "home page" of The Tree is a recent (I won't
say*how* recent!! *heheheee*) photo of me in a field Scouter's uniform.
(It was when I weighed a lot less than now, for sure!!)
As of this editing, more than 2100 people have visited my site (something
like three a day). While, compared to other people's sites, that's
nothing....it means a LOT to me that people stop by and look, rest and read
around The Tree.
Thanks for visiting, offering me advice (for a change!) and information and
viewing what I had to say!
