Merit Badge Irregularities

There is one major factor when dealing with Merit Badge irregularities:
How is National going to deal with it when it comes time for that Scout's
Eagle application to be reviewed? Will they see a problem with First Aid
MB not being earned before Emerg. Prep.?
They sure will.
What I would do....
1) talk to the Scouts in question.... see what they feel about it
You will probably find that they are more than willing to correct
the oversight. It sounds like they are all willing to earn First
Aid. [the MB counselor messed this one up]
2) I would talk to someone at the council level to see if the Emer/Prep MB
can be "deleted" from the Scouts' records.
3) When First Aid is earned, I would submit a new set of Blue Cards for
Emer/Prep signed (hopefully) by the same MB counselor with new
completion dates AFTER the First Aid completion date. [and TALK TO THAT
COUNSELOR, so this does not happen again]
In essence, I would be "holding" the Emer/Prep badge until all
requirements are completed. I had to do something similar for a Camping MB
when someone had not done the requisite 20 days/nights of camping. The
Troop Committee sat down with the Scout and discussed it with him, all
agreeing that as soon as he had the 20 days/nights, he would get the
badge. We gave him the one that had already been signed. We did not get
new blue cards. I suggest the above steps only because National WILL
scrutinize the dates.
Hope it all works out.
[BTW, TroopMaster has been such a GREAT boon when it comes to this
'stuff'. It tracks the camping days/nights. It estimates when
participation and leadership requirements should be completed. Just a lot
of helpful assets to the program. Highly recommended. As a District
Advancement Chairman, I love to see TroopMaster printouts attached to
Eagle Applications. It helps me to KNOW that all requirements have been
