OK, I am not normally this chatty but you guys are raising several subjects
that are effecting my Pack, Troop and District.
Our District committee had to cancel our September Webelos Woods this year
because no one chaired it. When I was CM, we had the Web Woods in early
April and we loved it because Pack Activities are slow at this time and the
AO had a great crossover for the Webelos.
Two years ago Web Woods was move to September so 2nd year Webelos would
have one more chance to meet Troops before crossover. But for our Pack,
this is a very busy time of year and we missed it both years. Also the
district camporee is two weeks after so it is difficult for Troops to
attend both activities as well.
So I proposed that we move Webelos Woods back to Spring where it belongs
(in My opinion). That was shot down and replaced for a January Show & Do.
Something we haven't done for at least five years and nobody remembers how
to do. I have been asked to again ask the committee to consider doing the
Webelos Woods in the Spring and we have a Troop willing to chair it. Before
I do this, I wanted to discuss this with you.
1. What is the difference between a Show and Do, and Webelos Woods?
2. What time of year do most District do either one of these and why?
I don't want to do the Webelos Woods in the Spring just because that is the
way I like it (well actually I do, but that's not very Scouting or
Christen), I want to do what is right for our District and more important,
the boys. So what do you-all think?
Thanks for any advice.
