Back to School Night

I know it's early, but here's the problem.
The last couple of years, for an unknown reason, our "Back to School
Night" for Cub Scout registration was not approved by the school board to
use the school until the day before. This bothered the cub leaders.
Now I know what your thinking. Why is the Scoutmaster worried about Cub
Scout registration. Well......
Our SPL had the idea of having it at our Troop Head Quarters to avoid any
possible problem with location for the registration. "Great idea, and
very generous." I told him, and pasted the invitation along to the Cub
Pack Committee Chairperson.
She accepted the offer, the PLC is excited about it, and the Den Chiefs
The Committee Chairperson and the Cub Master are both new at this, and
are looking at the all knowing Scoutmaster (please don't give me away)
for instruction as to what to do next. Well, I've never been involved
with registration night before and I'm not sure if there is anything I
should pay close attention to. All I was going to do was set the mood
with a mock up camp site (maybe some Dutch Oven Cooking and Camp Gadget
demos) and Games for the kids while parents are asking questions. I was
even thinking of extending an offer for the Girl Scout Troop to have a
representative on hand, just in case a family has girls who might be
looking for a program.
Some of you are probably saying the same thing that our local council is
saying,"It's not your job, let the Cub Pack Committee worry about it". My
reasoning is that this is the first (and in some cases only) impression
that non scouts have of Boy Scouts in general, and it had better be a
good one. After all, Eagles all start out somewhere, and I'd hate to
loose anybody because "It's not my job."
I've got a month and a half to finalized this project, so at least I've
got time on my side.
All comments and wisdom (as usual) will greatly appreciated.
