FYI: Another Reason to Have As Many Parents Registered as Scouters as
Last January when my son was working on his Pinewood Derby Car at our home,
the chisel slipped and he cut his arm and had to have stitches. Everything
healed up and he is fine.
After our personal insurance had paid, I filed it with the BSA coverage
that our pack carries just to see what would happen. I was not expecting
anything because we were not at a Scout meeting or function.
They DID PAY.
I feel, however, that the only reason they payed was that I was a
registered leader, and my son was under my supervision building the car.
So, if you have trouble getting parents to sign up, let them know that they
and their sons will be covered by insurance doing ANY Scouting activity
whether at home or with the Troop/Pack.
