SM conferences are outlined in the Scoutmasters Handbook, and the B of R
is outlined in th Committees Handbook.
In our Troop, as the SM, I let the scout know that he will be tested on
his skills during the B of R and to brush up. Then the B of R does test
him on a few details in addition to other scout related questions. Some
Scouts that are not prepared or do not take it seriously do not pass
their B of R.
And I would only have the ASM sit in if they are in training to take over
the SM job.
Hey, we have to do something to keep busy. This is also the only time
that I can spend some time with each and every scout one-on-one, within
the confines of two deep leadership and the buddy system.
If any other ideas, I'd like to hear them, too.
