I agree with Doug. We have had the same problem with lack of respect toward
both Junior and Adult leaders and behavior problems in our Troop. The last
two years I have not signed off on the leadership position or scout spirit
requirements if I or one of my ASMs, who I consult prior to the SM Conference
feel that the Scout needs to improve his leadership or behavior. I also will
have a SM Conference with a Scout who is demonstrating poor leadership or
having behavior problems before that Scout comes to me to advance in rank.
The Scouts are now begining to understand that their behavior and ability are
tied in with their advancement. I expect more from a Scout advancing to Star
or Life than a Scout advancing to Tenderfoot through First Class.
I discussed discipline problems with my PLC at our Troop JLT last weekend.
The PLC came up with a system to deal with the behavior problems in the
Troop. If anyone is interested, E-Mail me privately and I will send you a
