reminding us that now the TCU server (host of SCOUTS-L) is set to send
replies to the poster of the message, not to the list. He suggested
caution about also putting in a cc: to the list, as it would result in
the poster getting both your direct reply and the list message.
I appreciate the reminder to think before you do. On the other hand, I
have appreciated people who replied to some of my messages to SCOUTS-L
sending their posting both to the list and directly to me. I get
SCOUTS-L in digest form, meaning that I am generally about a day behind
the discussion. If people send a reply directly to me as well as to the
list, it lets me respond (if appropriate) in a more timely manner. I
experienced this in my recent series of messages about the Philmont
Of course, there are some replies that are not of general interest and
that should only go directly to the poster. For those, be sure you
don't accidentally put SCOUTS-L as a recipient.
Ron, I hope you won't take this as a flame. Your messages on SCOUTS-L
have been helpful to me, and I respect you. Your reminder made a good
