cancelled an event? Go to the movies...

just in case someone, somewhere had to cancel a hike or campout this
weekend, I would like to strongly suggest you alternatively meet at the
mall and see Contact (rated PG, no guidance needed from parents, it just
isn't a kiddy movie).
Afterwards, many, many discussions could be directed toward scouting ideals
(over root beer of course). Discussions like why we go to school (or
continue in school for advanced degrees and why are they called Dr. in the
movie when they are phd's). Discussions about the magnificent feats of
engineering when we work together (Mir, Mars exploration come to mind),
astronomy, computers and of course faith and God. I admit to standing
outside, by my car tonight looking at the sky way longer than usual.
TRIVIA QUESTION TIME: In the movie, at the very beginning Palmer Joss asks
her to dinner and says, "no quotes, scouts honor, just a good meal and good
company," and he gives a scout sign. What is it. DO NOT ANSWER THIS
QUESTION AND RUIN IT FOR OTHERS. (yes I am shouting)
TRIVIA QUESTION PART II: In the book, it ends differently and a tad more
intellectually than the movie audiences may have been able to absorb. She
goes back home, links some supercomputers together and calculating pi. She
discovers a message. This was kind of neat to reflect on too. Hey, if you
don't know what I am talking about you'll just have to read the book.
P.S. I really do hope you are having great weather this weekend and this is
just wasted bandwidth.
