Dear Scouters, ]
Thanks for your help on my situation. Many have asked me to clarify
for them the reasons for the new Troop. Although I have had had many
problems in my own Troop of late, this one is plaguing the Troop next
to us and the Scoutmaster is not on the "L". So, she asked me to
write for her.
Here is a more detailed explanation of her problem for those who
Scout "A" crossed over from Webelos to Boy Scouts in Feb 1996.
His mom was Den Leader during all of his Cubbing years.
She was very active in District and Council events in the Cub program.
She knew the Cub program inside and out.
However, She did not take the time to learn the Boy Scout program and
She felt that her son needed to do everything first and best.
When he wasn't and didn't she blamed the Scoutmaster.
When that Troop 1 signed up for summer camp at the same time that
Scout "A" was going to national jamboree, the mom blew a cork and
transferred him to another local Troop.
She is now unhappy with the second troop for reasons unknown. She
wants to start her own Troop. She has found a Grandfather in the
original Troop who withdrew his Scouts from the Troop because he had
difficulty with running the Boy Scout Program the way it should be
run. He had been a SM in the past and had run his Troop like a
glorified Webelos Den. They have joined forces. Neither of them
has taken Scoutmaster fundamentals. They just want to do Boy
Scouting the Webelos way.
She is targeting certain individuals in the first Troop to invite to
her Troop. Isn't a Scout Trustworthy?
What about loyal?
Yours in Scouting,
Scoutmaster, Linda K. Clossen
