I just spoke with a member of our troop committee who is also the
Cubmaster for the pack that "feeds" our troop. She just returned from
Capitol Area Council Cub resident camp held near Dripping Springs,
Texas. The event was 2 1/2 days and 2 nights. The attendees included
boys who will be 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th graders this fall. Separate
programs were geared to the various age groups.
I've observed that Cubs/Webelos who go camping several times make
better Boy Scouts than boys who don't do much camping. While boys may
experience "burn out" in other parts of the Cub/Webelos programs, I
don't think this happens with camping and being outdoors. After all,
isn't this the ScOUTing program?
