I attached 1-inch brass tags to the lid handle and to the bail with
stainless steel split (key) rings. The tags are engraved with my name
and phone number. I bought the tags and rings at a large hardware store.
One could also buy dog tags with the info engraved. The key is to get
something corrosion-resistant (brass or stainless steel). Aluminum tags
don't have enough mass to absorb intense heat and will melt under coals.
I wouldn't dare engrave the pots directly since I don't know how the pots
would react to heat afterwards -- they might crack.
