It is explicitly the BSA policy that Scouting DOES run year 'round.
There is a National Summertime Pack Award for those Packs that hold at
least 1 Pack-level activity during the months of June, July, and August;
NSPA pins (a gold sunburst) for those Scouts who participate in at least 1
Pack-level activity in each of the above months. The NSPA is one of the
(optional) requirements for the National Quality Unit Award.
While I've never heard of a 12-month Den award, there IS recently a
National Quality Den Award whose requirements include meeting all 12 months
of the unit charter year.
Info on these and other awards is available from your unit commissioner,
district exec, and your local Scout shop (and can be found in the Cub Scout
Leader Guide that ALL leader's have ;-)
