Has anyone mentioned Perry Como's novelty hit "Delaware" attributed to Irving
Gordon for Comet Music/Pic Corporation (ASCAP) and recorded 12/28/59 with the
Ray Charles Singers and Mitchell Ayers Orchestra? I loved this record about
the time I joined Cub Scouts as a kid:
Oh what did Delaware boy, what did Delaware? (repeat)
She wore a brand New Jersey (repeat twice), that's what she did wear.
(sound off) One, two, three, four.
Oh, why did Cali phone ya, why did Cali phone,
Why did Cali phone ya, was she all alone?
She called to say Hawa ya (repeat twice), That's why she did phone.
(Spanish, or is it Italian?) Uno, duay, tres, quatro.
Oh, what did Missis sip boy, what did Missis sip,
What did Missis sip boy through her pretty lips?
She sipped a Minne soda (repeat twice), that's what she did sip.
(French, spelling?) un, deux, trois, chat.
Oh, where has Ore gone boys, where has Ore gone?
If you want Alaska, Alaska where she's gone.
She went to pay her Texas (repeat twice), that's where she has gone.
(German) ein, zwie, drei, vier
How did Wiscon sin boy, she stole a New brass key,
Too bad that Arkan saw boy and so did Tenne see.
It made poor Flora die boy, it made poor Flora die you see
She died in Misery boy, she died in Misery.
What did Delaware boy (repeat - fade out).
