>What vehicle would you get for a "Scoutmastermobile"?
For over 15 years, I've used (and highly recommend) a good ol'
American-built full-size van for Scoutmastering (and family) pulling an
enclosed 5x5x8 foot trailer (similar to a UHaul) for gear. Usually one
or more dads want to bring their own vehicles, so I always have had
plenty of seat belts available.
On occasion, I've seen troops with a school bus. But they're very
expensive to maintain, feed, and insure -- something the average
Scoutmaster can't afford (especially if this is also his personal
vehicle). Buses don't have seat belts, so you'll need to install 'em.
Over the long haul, such troops find them less than satisfactory and
generally don't replace the bus when it dies. My recommendation: don't
do it! The money really should be spent on the Scouting program anyway.
