These are fun to do. Here in Southern California, we try very hard to
have one of the boys take the lead. We call this lad a "Chaplain's
Aide," one of our leadership positions. We usually have a mix of
faiths, so we use prayers and songs from many faiths. Some "Old and
New" Testaments, American Indian, Buddist, Jewish, even Islam, and try
very hard not to offend anyone. We use songs that everyone knows, like
Kun By A, Amazing Grace, etc. The trick is to have a printed program
that everyone can follow, use familiar stuff, talk about the outdoors,
and let the Boys do it. If at all possible, sit in the first row.
Guitars are nice if you can get them. Good luck, keep it simple, make
it fun. A good resource is http://macscouter.com and follow the links
to the worship stuff.
