Hoo doggies! This is a tuffy. I'm going throught the same thing right
now, but more as an exercise in wishful thinking. I once thought that a
Chevy Suburban was the ticket, but it's just too big for my tastes, and
there are none worth buying that would fit in the price range listed.
Obviously, a Scoutmastermobile should be able to haul people and
haul/tow cargo. FWD is a plus, but not necessary, though high clearance
is. I'm looking at the Ford Expedition or a Dodge Ram P/U with the king
cab. You might look for an Isuzu Trooper II in the 1986-89 vintage.
You might be able to get one in your used range, probably on the high
end for a good one. If vehicle restoration is one of your hobbies, or
if yu have more time than mopney, buy something old and make it new.
Good luck, let me know what you decide.
