Philmont & Family Life MB

Just wanted to say that Philmont is now 2 weeks away! I can't wait! Turns
out that since we have 11 people going, I (one of the adults) will
probably be stuck with a tent of my own, so I am considering taking my
personal tent. Considering I will be carrying it, and I fit in it, the
choice is now if I want to lug it or not. I may be able to roll it up
with my sleeping bag and stuff it into my stuff sack and strap it on top
of my backpack. Well, I have 2 weeks to decide. :) We leave the 16th at
6A for the airport and get back around 6P July 2nd. By that time, our
younger boys will be in the middle of summer camp, so I'm sure the
regular meetings will not be much at all. YPT training next Tuesday, too,
so I will be doing that. Our expedition is 619-J I think, so anyone who
will also be there 619, let me know, maybe we can meet up somewhere. We
are also taking a side trip (when we get there) to Carlsbad via Roswell,
and to the caverns for a tour and watching the bats. On the way back we
plan on stopping in Taos (as usual) and maybe Santa Fe, depending on
time. Regardless, it will be a FUN time!!
Okay, the flight is kind of screwy. We fly out from Tampa International
and have an hour lay-over in Pittsburgh! From there we fly to Albequerque
where we will stay at Kirkland AFB. On the way back it's more screwed up.
We fly out of Albequerque to Pittsburgh (not that bad, right?) then we
fly to Charleston (!!) and then onto Tampa. Not sure if it's Charleston
SC or WV. Oh well, at least I'll be in a few cities I've never been
before, so that's a plus!
On another note, I was nosing through Family Life MB and the BSA Handbook
and noticed there is very little discussed about "duty to women". Surely
there should be more written than half a page, correct? That's part of
growing up and something the BSA could stress is a man's duty to his
wife/fiancee/girlfriend. Any input? Ideas? Comments that "this has
already been discussed, James!"
