I have just returned from attending a meeting and have learned that all of
the "barriers" that have occurred in the past have been overcome and the
program for providing backpacking bibles to the scouts (and scouters) who
will be hiking the trails of Philmont this summer will be fully operational.
All that remains is the one final barrier. Buying the bibles. Talking to a
primary force behind this program, Jon Farris, I have learned that anyone
who wishes to contribute to this project can do so by sending a check made
out to either
"Backpacking Bibles for Philmont" or "Sierra Grande Sub-district United
and send them to
HCR 63 Box 6
Amistad, NM 88410
If you need any additional information (my knowledge is _very_ limited), you
can reach Jon Farris (a.k.a "Jon the Methodist") at 505-576-2281.
I will be sending this message to several other lists in an attempt to "get
the word out" about this incredible opportunity to distribute Bibles to a
large number of youth from accross the country and around the world. After
all "a Scout is Reverent."
Please distribute this information to any and all interested persons.
