The Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America (Atlanta, Georgia)
conducts an annual Scout Show held in the World Congress Center, which
is a very large exhibition hall in Atlanta used for conventions and such.
Our Scout show features Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troops, and Explorer
Posts (as many as 300) in exhibition booths (and outdoors settings)
scouting skills, high adventure activities, scouting ideals, etc.
The show includes a parade through the facility with bands, bagpipes etc.
Some of the outdoor exhibits include cooking areas, where several Troops
set up charcaol pits and provide samples of their outdoor culinary skills!
Some set up climbing and rapelling walls,.... one Troop even creates a pond
in which canoeing skills are taught and demonstrated. (Concrete blocks
and plastic sheeting is used to create a lake about 18 inches deep, and as
big as necessary)
Other exhibitors include the various branches of the military, police and
fire departments, religious institutions, major businesses and schools.
Attendance at the Atlanta Area Council Scout Show is about 20,000, and
it is often touted as the largest single day "convention" in the Southeast!
