Why the quarter in the first aid kit? Don't all telephones these days

Gang, the reason that I initially recommended that .25c be placed in the
1st Aid kit, was to call home. When my sons were little guys in a
Mission, KS Trp., the SM required each Scout (regardless of age) to
carry two .05c coins in their kit to call home (its been a while). They
were required to scot-tape their telephone number to each coin. The
coins were inspected before the outing & at the end. In 2 years, the
only time the coins were used was to call parients when we returned to
the Scout House after an outing. God was with us. We never had any major
medical problems-other then a few gray hairs.
