First, show me ANYONE who only holds ONE job in the Pack!!
Let's clarify. Anyone can be a CR, CC or MC, but only the CR can be
registered in more than one position (ie: CR/CC, CR/MC). I don't know about
everyone else, but in my experience the CR is usually not so active in the
Pack that he/she fulfills his/her own role let alone taking on CC or MC
What is important is that you don't have one person - however they're
registered - running the whole show. I have seen CMs running the Pack
Committee, and CCs as CMs. Granted, sometimes it's the only way things get
done - and sometimes it's the only short-term solution - but it can really
burn that person out. They may not think so, but it's hard to see it coming
when you're in the trenches.
Back to Kris' original post - the best answer is to go through the Cub Scout
Leader Book cover to cover. Also, go to Training and attend every
Roundtable. Recruit some excited and/or excitable parents (all the better if
they were Cub and/or Boy Scouts themselves!) and have them do the same. Make
sure everyone involved knows that without them (as compared to without you)
there is no Pack.
