Pragmatically, there is another point which no one has raised in public:
If the adult refusing to wear the uniform is one of the two adults your
troop has available to take the boys to camp -- swallow your "rules" with
whatever grace you can muster and take the boys to camp.
If there are a dozen uniformed adults available to replace him, then
adios amigo, ciao bebe, and so on.
The important thing is to get the boys to camp. Isn't it?
