Re: Need Advice on 'Special' Scout

There's a scout in my troop that is within question.
The first time he came to my attention was when we were at a meeting, and
he would not behave. This boy would mouth off to the SPL, and when asked
to "hush" (troop rule: we don't say 'shut up', as it shows a lack of
respect) by the SPL, he replied "you hush, ya big doofus!". The SPL
ignored the boy's comment and continued as usual.
A second example is, during closing ceremony, he was part of the 3-man
color guard. He was helping with flag folding, when he realized that he
did not end up with the job of actually folding the flag, but holding the
other end taut. He then reached and grabbed the flag and switched ends so
he could fold it.
I don't know if this boy just has a discipline problem, or what. I am
staying alert to observe any additional incidents and trying to pull
together what I learned in my psychology and sociology classes.
