I think you handled this right. The troop has the responsibility to
ALL of the boys and when one is diverting resources from the whole
group it is unfair. We are not social workers. It sounds like mom
was the one unable to cope with him ... and unable to speak up. His
reaction showed the depth of his commitment to the Scouting Ideals.
When things like this have come up the boys are coming to Scouts for
two reason -- it gives them a place to act up and parents have ordered
them in a desperate appempt for us to fix in a couple of years (at one
hour oa week) what they haven't been able to accomplish in 11 or 12.
