BIG OL' NOTE: For some reason, I've LOST all of my email between April 23rd
and May 10. If you have sent personal email to me at this account
(email@example.com), please RESEND it as not only have I not read it, I
have not seen it!! I was expecting somewhere around 1000 postings to
download this morning while I was waiting for the coffeepot to finish up,
but instead I only received 33. I'll be talking with Dynasty.net to find
out what happened, but in the meantime......thanks for your continued patience!
I have spent last night finding snailmail addresses of people that needed
patches or books or other things from me, putting them in envelopes, and
taking them out in my bare feet to the postbox. This morning, I readied
myself for what was supposed to be a day-long (thanks to my wife)
read/write/research session (mainly to see if everything I've placed in here
"will work" when I need to find an answer) but I was suffering some VERY BIG
SCOUTS-L withdrawals from not being around since I left Germany on the 23rd.
I'm back IN the States now, it and it looks for a while longer than I
expected. The new two-star General that we've been expecting will be
arriving tomorrow and MG Jim Wright, a former Scout and District
Committeemember, will be moving onward to Fort Lee, Virginia, as the new
Quartermaster General of the Army (the actual title is Commanding General,
US Army Combined Arms Training Center and School)...so all of you Scouts-L
people around Richmond, Virginia.....he's a GREAT person and will do you and
your Council well!!
A short backward glance at the trip back.....I left Kaiserslautern on the
20th and went to the staging base at Babenhausen, Germany...from there, I
spent two days there waiting for the plane, and then left on the morning of
the 23rd (that was the last day that I could read email from Scouts-L). I
arrived in Georgia that same day (because of the time difference) and then
waiting for two more days before leaving to come back to Indianapolis and a
warm reception by Jessiann.....and then....
....TO WORK!!! I *knew* all of that sweetness was for something!! She
found a beautiful home the month before I left Germany two blocks from where
we used to live on Chapelwood....the biggest benefit is that instead of
being separated from each other, our desks and all of our "reference
material" is now in the same officespace...and its only five steps from the
kitchen and the coffeepot (no more running down stairs, getting a cup or mug
of coffee, and running back up the stairs, spilling coffee all over the
rug/cat/clothes)!! Cable's in the room, so CNN is only a click away now
*heheheee* While we're still moving things around, it is starting to look
like people *really* live there!!
The neighbors are *really curious*....last week, as I was moving several
Scouting-related boxes back, clearly marked as such, two men were talking
to each other as I pulled them out of the car and moved them to the
"children's room", our temporary "morgue" until things can be placed into
their rightful rooms/drawers/shelves/whatevers.
"Must be a Scout leader of some kind", one said to the other.
"Nope, saw 'im in a military outfit with a woman....", the other said. I
smiled as I opened the storm door, instructed Kelly, our cat, to "back up,
good boy", and moved toward the "children's room".
I returned outside, in time to overhear the two men talk about the stuff
"...How long has he been moving those boxes in there?", one asked the other
as I moved toward the open-doored car. It was starting to cloud over a bit,
so I was in a little of a rush to get it all in before it started raining
again. I didn't hear the first part of the conversation.
"Came in here with a rental truck last week, must of had five or six file
cabinets and four desks," one of the old men talked to the other.
(it was actually four file cabinets and two desks)
"Didn't know that two people had that much stuff", the other man stated.
I yelled over to them, as I closed the trunk with my left elbow, heavy box
in hands, "Didn't know that one person had so much stuff, huh?? I'll be
finished in about a couple more days!" I giggled a little to myself, and
then moved toward the storm door. I had four more trips that day to the
I want to thank those that wrote and reminded me that I still have some
things to send their way....with all of this moving and getting around from
one place to another, my patch trading, book sharing and other things have
suffered a LOT...I don't know if Jessica posted our new snailmailing address
here, but I've posted it as part of my "temporary signature" and will
continue to do so until my computer, software and other stuff that the
German movers are sending gets here. I also want to thank Kathie, Dee,
Mike and Phillip for the GREAT things they sent me which were waiting for me
to open up when I arrived.....what nice homewarming items they are!!
Finally, to those that offered prayers, for those nice thoughts and for the
postings to Jessica asking "is your husband alright?? I haven't seen any of
his postings for a long time....", thank you as well.
I will be getting back to Dynasty.net to find out what happened to the rest
of the postings, but in the meantime, if you and I were working on
something, was in the middle of a trade, or I said that I was getting
something for you, please, please, please, post to me....pick up the phone
and call me, or fax me.....I want to finish up what you've been waiting for.
Again, I'm sorry for the delay....
Jessica has been using this saying (drives me nuts!) "Big pond causes delays
for little man"....but she's right. The move back across the ocean and
then the move up the street has put me back somewhat. But I'll read, catch
up and rejoin everyone here. I've missed ALL of you very, very much!!
