This has never been the case in Illini Lodge. We have selected several
professionals over the years, but they were selected for the Vigil Honor
by the normal procedure. Even our National Director, Clyde Meyer, was
selected for the Vigil Honor after he had attended NOAC as a Brotherhood
member, in the National position. Since he moved from our council to the
National office, we selected him for the honor. He completed the
ceremony at one of our lodge functions.
So, the Vigil Honor is not an "automatic".
