Sail Boats are allowed in scouting. The camp I have been Aquatics
Director at the last two summers has a fleet of 9 and two Catamarans. The
rules and regulations governing their use are outlined in the Safety Afloat
Plan which is the basic BSA rules on activity afloat. You might also see
about getting a hold of a copy of the Camp Program and Properties Management
Guide Aquatics Section. I don't know if they sell this book out right but
your Council Service Center should have a copy. I got mine when I went
through National Camp School. The main thing to keep in mind about use of
sail boats is that in order to use one or ride as a passenger in one you
must have past the BSA Swimmers test. I am not knowledgeable about the
