Ojibwa District held its annual Webelos Crossover Ceremony this weekend,
in conjunction with the Spring Camporee. The O.A. chapter performed the
ceremony. For each of the 58 Webelos/new Scouts, a flaming arrow was shot
into a target bearing the Scout emblem. The arrow was quickly removed from
the target and extinguished, then given to the Scout as he crossed over a
bridge to be welcomed into his new Troop by the Scoutmaster and SPL. As
proud papa, mother, sister, aunts and uncle, grandma and cousin watched, MY
son became the only Webelos Scout at this ceremony to trip and slide across
the bridge :0 And the night before he was also elected Patrol Leader of the
Badger Patrol. We all got over the embarassment of the fall real quick, may
be some time before the pride settles down to a tolerable level.
