Here, the fees that South Australians pay is $31 to headquaters and then
the group sets the rest. Each group also does fundraising. At present, our
group pays subs on a weekly basis of $3.50 per child. This amounts to about
$120 a year, and this is to just cover the hall insurance, their fees to HQ
(which includes by the way insurance which covers them in case of acidents
and stuff) and weekly stuff for section stuff, such as craft matieral and
stuff as well as badges. Obviously this doesnt cover the hall repayments
(all groups here pay for the buildings and these are owned by the Scout
Association, not the sponsering body. In fact, we dont have sponsering
bodies....we run ourselves) and other equipment that we have to have, such
as tents and cooking equipment and the many other things that are required
to run a scout Group as a whole. So, we do fundraisng on top of this.
Before anyone dies of shock at our fees for the year, the average range of
the fees varies from group to group and can vary from $100 per year up to
$200 per year. It depends on the group, where they are located, the
social-economic make up of the area and if they own their hall or not, or
if they have to pay rent and a whole host of other things.
