Oh ease up on the heavy breathing, Alan. The first defense of every
scoundrel is "it's just the media," so I'm not sure that's a real good
defense to offer.
So far, NOTHING that I've seen, either here or in the media, even hints
that the incident as reported is not accurate. At the VERY least, if
- the CSA owned a hand gun and carried it with him between states
- he did not have a permit to carry a concealed weapon
- the hand gun was in his luggage and LOADED
- he did not know where the hand gun was, or take measures to assure it
- he committed an act which, if found guilty, is a felony
I suppose if you advocate carrying personal weapons for protection, all
this seems a trivial technicality. And I suppose if you oppose carrying
personal weapons for protection (as I do), the CSE has already done more
than enough to support his resignation. However, I agree that there
will be enough time to sort things out in due course. I do NOT agree
that this is merely a media circus over a minor mishap.
