Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have to ask a question about OA elections. Tonight our Troop held OA
elections. There were problems. First a little background. The SPL of
our Troop has been trying to arrange OA elections for 2 months. He has
gotten a lot of "I'll get back to you", "Call this guy, call that guy"
and the bottom line is that he was informed late Sunday Night that
someone would be there tonight. One boy and his mom showed up and asked
for a VCR. We didn't have one available without notice. He seemed put
out. He proceeded to run an election in which one boy was elected. After
the meeting most of the boys in our Troop were surprised to find out
that they could have voted for more than one boy. They "swear" they were
not told they could vote for more than one. The OA guy says that he told
them. I am sorry for those boys that Could have been in the upcoming
ordeal. I was being interviewed by some Webelos and their parents about
the Troop. I KNOW I should have been there to make sure this didn't
happen but I wasn't.
My biggest question is How often can a troop hold an election? How
can I right this wrong.
You can reply privately unless you feel the list would benefit.
