Our troop charges $35/year. This covers national registration, Boys
Life, and the balance (about $20) goes into the troop account and is used
for basic troop expenses such as newsletter, badges, copying fees, troop
equipment, etc. We are holding a couple of fund-raisers this year.
Camping fees are extra--usually only for the cost of food ($10/12 per
scout). We pay campground fees out of troop funds.
Kids who can't afford the fee are given a bye. We also only charge half
the fee for a second kid from the same family.
This seems very reasonable to me; hope it does to the rest of you! I
must confess, hearing from a colleague or two on the list that their DEs
got upset at them for charging more than $7 ils a new one on me...
