In response to Wayne Hill's request for information about other Troops
Our Troops yearly registration fee of $35 covers: $7 registration fee,
$7.80 Boy's Life subscription, and the balance is their yearly dues.
The Troop or other adults will cover the cost if the family is unable.
We have about six fundraisers per year, our biggest, the annual
Day pancake breakfast raises $2000 on average, this money goes directly
into the Troop funds. (Last year I challenged the boys to raise $2000,
if they did they got to dump a gallon can of baked beans on my head....
it took me a week to wash the beans out!)
All other fundraisers raise money for boys individual accounts. We
sell tickets for our Chartered Org. for various events and the boys get
100% to as much as 250% of the ticket sales. We have a boy that
participated in every fundraiser last year, he raised a little over $400
for his Scout account. He can use his account balance for campouts,
equipment purchases related to Scouting or any other approved purchase.
Our monthly weekend camping trips generally cost $15 per outing,
typically we have about 18 weekend camping trips per year. $50 per
person for our annual BWCA trip, 5-6 permits, supplying all our own gear
and canoes. And our summer camp costs $125 for a week, $2 extra for
gas money for the drivers. We are also going to Philmont this year
(619-B) and we are charging $600: $325 for Philmont fee, the balance
for whitewater rafting, food, gas, spending money, and other misc
Hope this helps....
