B-P Patrol stars

I've been thinking about the stars, and it seems to me that if the stars
are attached to the patrol, not the boy. Hence, if a patrol is merged,
or something, and the old patrol name, even, is no longer used, then the
stars are no longer worn. By the same token, if a boy moves to a
different patrol (say, from the new scout patrol to another patrol) and
his old patrol DID earn the B-P patrol, but the other one hasn't, he is
no longer entitled to wear the patch.
BTW Don't ask me about "what happens if a boy moves into a patrol that
is a B-P patrol? Can he wear the patch or not?" I don't know. I
haven't thought that far ahead yet. Fortunately (unfortunately) none of
my patrols are B-P patrols--they refuse to have outside meetings.
