Hi my name is Charles V. W. Lord
I was made aware of this list by my old Scoutmaster. I was a scout in
troop 1518 in Springfield VA. Which is in Fairfax County and is a part of
the NCAC, which stands for the National Capital Area Council. Prior to
being a scout there I had Joined scouting in Germany. My father is in the
military (the army) and we were stationed in Geoppingen Germany. I was
invited to join troop 102. That is how I became a scout.
When I was no longer of age to be a scout I went to college at Virginia
Tech, or VPI if you are of the old school. It was at VA Tech that I
discovered a service fraternity called Alpha Phi Omega. It is through APO
that I became active in scouting again. I joined the High Adventure Staff
of the Blue Ridge Mountains Council summer camp. after three years on High
Adventure I graduated from VA Tech. At which time the BSA offered me a job
as district Executive. I have been serving scouting in that capacity for a
little over 18 months now.
So I am just a new DE and not worldly wise in the ways of the volunteers
and Council staff as of yet.
I would like some input from people about how there district operates.
specifically I am interested in rural scouting. I have a four county
district with a lot of Mountains in it. Granted they are only eastern
mountains and not very large by Western standards, but they are the largest
thank you for any information that you may send.
