Without specific examples of rude and negative messages I can
only talk about generalities. I have learned the hard way over the
years that I must make a special effort when communicating by e-mail.
All of our gestures, facial expressions, and voice fluctuations get
lost. These things add greatly to our ability to communicate. Without
them, the same words will come across a little harsher then intended.
I know I've been guilty in the past of sending rude e-mail - even if it
was unintended. I hope I wasn't guilty this time with Tim. Knowing
the limitations that e-mail puts on communicating feelings, I try to
remember to be a little more forgiving and tolerant of messages
that "appear" to be rude or negative.
