Bob, There is no requirement in my mind that the writeup
be good basic english, or that it be typed. I gladly
accept a hand written report (somewhat of a rarity in
today's computer world). As to basic english? I hoped
no one would ask, but here goes.
If the report has the appearance of being hastily put
together, with no proof reading and little attention to
organization or detail, I'll ask for it to be redone.
(That having been said, if all else is in order and the
BoR is otherwise satisfactory, I'll complete the BoR approvals
and affix my signature, and tell the Board that they
can go ahead with the submittal but I want the cleaned
up copy within a week.)
If it just has context and spelling mistakes, I'll
point some of them out and comment on how those minor
items can detract from the presentation and possibly
even obscure the importance and impact of the report.
(i.e. I use it for a teaching tool for the boy). I'll
then suggest that for his own benefit the boy might
want to make the corrections, and I'd like a copy if
Usually, during the Project approval interview, I'll show
the boy a few good reports for examples. (Incidently I
usually expect a written proposal for the initial approval).
